In Rejection of the Knitted Mice

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing to contest the recent rejection of this record attempt (ref- 297310) ‘Largest display of knitted mice’.

In your email dated 13.04.10 you state ‘While we certainly do not underestimate your proposal, we do however think that this item is a little too specialised for a body of reference as general as ours’.

While normally I would appreciate this claim your 2010 book has accredited ‘The largest display of papier-mâché pandas’. It seams strange to me to me that papier-mâché pandas are themselves not too specialised.

You also claim ‘We receive many thousands of record claims every year and we think you will appreciate that we are bound to favour those which reflect the greatest interest.’

Despite the fact that I can appreciate this in terms of the pandas as a symbol of the WWF, I fail to see how you can claim that something like someone balancing a milk bottle on their head for the longest distance is of any more interest than knitted mice.

I understand that you are extremely busy but I would appreciate some answers to why in your eyes some claims hold greater value than others.

Many thanks for your time.

Lauren O’Day
