IT ALL ABOUT ME!

I say this with all honesty because it is true. It really is all about me. My endeavour in life is worth far more than anyone else’s and you need to remember that. So when talking my seat at the Robin Deacon and Ali Cherri talk on Tuesday I wasn’t surprised that it related directly to me my work and everything that I am and do.

In his film on the re-enactment Stuart Sherman pieces a women watches a re-enactment a states -

‘He still lives because his work is seen again and I think this is what a lot of artist hope for’

Dam Right! It’s all about validation! Validation that what you have done has a purpose. That it lives on. A validation that you existed once. Specifically all about validating me, what I have done, why I am so wonderful. I AM NOT USELESS!

I hate to think that I deal with memory but in listening to this talk and dealing with documentation I bloody well do. FUCK. I hate the word. It is loaded with sickly meaning. But really documentation is just there to give validation to your own bloody memory.

Is this what has become of my memory?

Specifically documentation of personal endeavour is there purely to validate ones achievements. In me documenting my attendance of this talk I validate my specific achievement especially in the context of the institution.

Documentation = remains. To validate what you are doing now.
